Your first task

Write what you want in the box, the way you would ask a colleague, and press Enter. Jean answers in the task, showing each step it takes. To change anything, say so in the box.

What you need

Steps

  1. Click where it says Ask anything, or describe a task…: that is the box.
The box, where it says what you can ask: Add to your message (the +) adds a file, and Send (the arrow) sends. Choose a brain, the chip beside it, names the brain that answers.
  2. Write what you want, in your own words: what it is, for whom, and in what form. To add a file, drop it on the box, or press Add to your message, the + beside it.
  3. Press Enter, or Send, the arrow, to send. Shift and Enter start a new line instead.
  4. Read the answer as it comes. Each step it takes shows above the answer: open one to see what was read and what came back.
  5. To change something, say it in the box: shorter, in French, as a table. Or press Try again under your request, to have it answered again.
  6. For something else, start a new task with New task, so each task keeps to one thing.

Good to know

  • Under each answer: Copy, with its formatting, and in More options, sharing, a Word document or printing.
  • What you write while Jean works is read before its next step. Escape stops the answer.
  • Up to three suggested follow-ups appear as buttons under the last answer.
  • Each answer says which brain wrote it, how long it took and what it cost.

If it doesn’t work

Nothing happens when you send

Jean needs a brain first, and shows One step before I answer with the ways to get one. See Choose the AI that answers.

The answer is wrong

Say what is wrong, in the box, or press Try again. For figures, ask Jean to work them out: it runs a program rather than guessing.

Still stuck?

Ask Jean in your own words, for instance: What can you do with a spreadsheet?

If that doesn’t help, write to arnaud@jean.is.
