Ask your PDF anything, or turn its tables into Excel.

Drop a PDF in Jean and ask in your own words: what it commits you to, the dates and amounts it sets, a summary for someone who won’t read it. Its tables come back as a workbook, its text as a Word document, in your language if you like. Nothing to install.

There is no sample PDF: bring one of yours, one that isn’t confidential to start with, and drop it in the box.

One task, step by step.

A bank statement as a PDF, made a workbook: what Jean read, what it worked out, and the files it made.

  1. You ask

March statement.pdfPut every transaction of this statement in an Excel workbook, one row each, with the money in and out added up. Check the totals against the statement’s.

  2. Jean reads
    • The statement’s text, page by page
    • Its table of transactions, and its own totals
  3. Jean works it out
    • Rebuilt each row: its date, its label, the money in or out
    • Added them up with a program, on its own walled-off computer
    • Compared those totals with the statement’s
  4. You get

A workbook: the transactions on one sheet, the totals on another, the sums as formulas.

    March statement.xlsx
  5. You ask for another file

And a short note for my accountant, in Word, with anything unusual.

  6. Jean makes it

A Word document with the month’s totals and what stood out, as a card under the answer, to change and send.

    Note for the accountant.docx

Or ask your own

  • Summarise this report in ten lines, for someone who won’t read it.
  • What does this contract commit me to? Dates and amounts first.
  • Translate it into English, as a Word document.
  • Compare these two versions: what changed?

What goes in. What comes out.

A PDF with text in it, short or long, in most languages. Then ask for the result in the form you need.

In

PDF
Its text, page by page, headings and all
Long documents
Read a part at a time, the pages a question needs found by search
Several at once
To compare, or to read together
A photo of a page
For an AI that sees pictures, when a PDF is only a scan

Out

An answer
A summary, the dates and amounts, short or long, in your language
An Excel workbook
Its tables as sheets, the sums as formulas
A Word document
A summary, a letter or a translation, to change and send
A table as CSV
From any answer, to open in Excel

Totals worked out, not guessed.

Copying figures by hand is where mistakes creep in. Jean reads them from the PDF and has them added up.

Where your PDF goes.

There is no Jean server. What changes is the AI that answers, and you choose it.

Where your files go

The catch, plainly.

Questions people ask

Is it free?

Yes, with no account at Jean. The AI that answers may want one: Start for free opens a free one, or use a plan you already pay for, or the AI on this computer, with no account at all.

Can it read a scanned PDF?

Not as a PDF: a scan has no text in it to read. Take a photo or a screenshot of the page instead, for an AI that sees pictures.

How long can the PDF be?

Up to 100 MB. A long one is read a part at a time, the pages a question needs found by search.

Can it turn a PDF into Word?

It writes a Word document from the PDF’s text, with its headings, lists and tables. The layout isn’t copied.

Is my PDF safe?

It is kept on your device, encrypted. Its text goes to the AI you chose, to answer; with the AI on this computer, nowhere.

Does it read other languages?

Yes: PDFs in Chinese, Japanese, Arabic and many more, and it answers in yours.
