Jeancoming from another AI Open Jean

Moving to Jean

Your conversations come with you.

Years of conversations in ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini? Export them there, drop the file in Jean, and they come in: every conversation with its title and dates, projects with their instructions, nothing twice. Then use any AI, those included.

Bring my historyHow to export

  • ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini
  • Nothing comes in twice
  • Kept on your computer

Export it where it is.

Each app gives you your history as a file, sent by email. Jean reads that file as it comes.

  1. ChatGPT

In ChatGPT: Settings › Data controls › Export data.

A link to a .zip arrives by email. Drop that file in Jean as it is.

    ChatGPT’s help page, read October 20, 2026

    Compare Jean and ChatGPT

  2. Claude

In Claude, on the web or the desktop app: Settings › Privacy › Export data. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner allows it first.

A link arrives by email and works for 24 hours. Drop the file in Jean as it is.

    Claude’s help page, read October 20, 2026

    Compare Jean and Claude Cowork

  3. Gemini

At takeout.google.com: Deselect all, tick Gemini for your Gems, and My Activity with Gemini Apps alone. Choose JSON as My Activity’s format: Jean doesn’t read its web pages.

A link to a .zip arrives by email, within hours or days. Drop it in Jean as it is.

    Gemini’s help page, read October 20, 2026

Then, in Jean: Settings › Your data › Restore a backup, or drop the file in the box. Several exports come in one after the other.

What comes in, and what doesn’t.

Jean brings in what was said and what you shared. What another app’s tools did has no place in an answer here.

Comes in

  • Every conversation, with its title and its dates.
  • Where you edited a request or tried an answer again, the version you saw last.
  • Claude’s projects and Gemini’s Gems, with their instructions and their documents.
  • Nothing twice: bring the same export again and nothing is doubled.
  • Files you shared with ChatGPT or Gemini; from Claude, the text Claude read in them.

Stays behind

  • What the tools did and what the AI thought: searches, code it ran, ChatGPT’s canvases, Claude’s artifacts, its reasoning.
  • Pictures ChatGPT made, and pictures you gave Claude: its export leaves them out.
  • What ChatGPT saved in its memory.
  • A conversation that grew since you brought it in: it isn’t brought in again.
  • Which Claude project a conversation belonged to: the export doesn’t say.

Then, never move again.

What you bring in stays yours, in a form any app can read, with whichever AI you choose next.

Your own files

Each conversation is a file of its own, in an open format, kept encrypted on your computer by Jean.

Any AI

Carry on with the AI on your computer, a free one, your key or your plan, and switch from the box, request by request.

One backup

Keep a copy of everything in one file, and restore it on any device.

Jean beside the AI apps you know

What to know first.

Your questions.

Do I have to close my ChatGPT account?

No. Exporting changes nothing there. Keep both, or use ChatGPT’s AI from Jean with your plan, on a computer.

Does my history go to a server?

No. Jean reads the export on your computer and keeps what it brings in there, encrypted. Nothing reaches us.

Can I bring in several apps?

Yes, one export after the other, into the project you’re in.

Will I find an old conversation?

Yes: search finds conversations as you type, part of a word enough, in any language.

Is it free?

Yes. Bringing your history in costs nothing, and neither does Jean.

I exported a while ago. Can I use that file?

Yes, if it is ChatGPT’s or Claude’s .zip, or Gemini’s Takeout in JSON. Bring a newer one later: what is already here doesn’t come in twice.

Bring your history, then choose your AI.

Jean opens on Your data, ready for the file. Nothing to install.
