Excel and CSV files
AI for your Excel files that calculates, never guesses.
Drop a workbook or a CSV in Jean and ask in your own words: which product grew, what the formula is, what changed since last month. A program works out the numbers, and you get back a chart, a table or a new workbook. Nothing to install.
Try it with a sample spreadsheetSee how it went
- Free and open source
- Nothing to install
- Nothing is sent to Jean
One task, step by step.
The sample spreadsheet and its question, as Jean answers them: what it read, what it worked out, and the file it made.
- You ask
sales.csvWhich product grew the most over the year? Show it as a chart.
- Jean reads
- 48 rows: 4 products over 12 months
- Units sold and revenue, month by month
- Jean works it out
- Wrote a short program, and ran it on its own walled-off computer
- Compared each product’s December 2025 with its January 2025
Product Jan 2025 Dec 2025 Growth Coffee 771 956 +24% Tea 435 389 -11% Hot chocolate 304 330 +9% Juice 125 336 +169% - You get
Juice grew the most, +169%, drawn as a chart in the answer.
A chart - You ask for the file
Put it in a workbook, with the growth as formulas.
- Jean makes it
A workbook, as a card under the answer: it opens beside the task, its cells can be changed there, and it saves with a click.
Sales growth.xlsx
Then ask your own
- Which months were below average, and by how much?
- Write the formula that adds up column C where column A says “Paid”.
- Find the duplicates in this list, and put them on a sheet of their own.
- A summary by region, with a chart, for Monday’s meeting.
What goes in. What comes out.
Drop the file, or paste the rows. Then ask for the result in the form you need.
In
- Excel workbooks
- .xlsx, every sheet, dates read as dates
- CSV and TSV
- Split by commas, semicolons or tabs, as exports are
- A table in a PDF or a Word file
- Its text is read, and the table rebuilt from it
- Rows you paste
- Straight from your spreadsheet into the box
Out
- An answer with a chart
- Drawn in the answer, its numbers written as your language writes them
- A new Excel workbook
- Its sheets, values and formulas, opened beside the task
- A table as CSV
- From any answer, to open in Excel
- A report in Word
- The figures and what they mean, ready to send
Worked out, not guessed.
An AI can sound sure of a total it guessed. Jean has its numbers calculated.
A program, not a guess
For a total, a growth or an average, the AI writes a short program and runs it on your data. The number is calculated.
On a computer in this tab
A computer inside the browser, walled off from your own machine: JavaScript, and Python for data work. The first time, Jean asks before turning it on.
Every step in view
Each step shows as it runs. Open one to see what it was given and what came back.
Where your file goes.
There is no Jean server. What changes is the AI that answers, and you choose it.
Kept on this device
Your files and your tasks are kept in this browser, encrypted. Nothing reaches us.
Sent to the AI you chose
Your request and the file’s text go to the AI you picked, and nowhere else. Under every answer, Jean says where it was done.
Or not sent at all
With the AI on this computer, nothing leaves it. It needs 12 GB of memory and a recent graphics chip.
The catch, plainly.
- Jean is free; the AI behind it may not be. Without a sign-up, only the AI on this computer answers.
- It doesn’t run Excel macros, and a workbook with macros (.xlsm) isn’t read.
- Old Excel files (.xls, from Excel 97 to 2003) aren’t read: save them as .xlsx first.
- The workbooks it writes hold values and formulas. Charts come in the answer, not inside the Excel file.
- Jean can be wrong. Numbers are calculated; check the words, as you would a colleague’s.
- Your work lives in this browser. Clear its data without a backup and it’s gone.
Questions people ask
Is it free?
Yes, with no account at Jean. The AI that answers may want one: Start for free opens a free one, or use a plan you already pay for, or the AI on this computer, with no account at all.
Can it write Excel formulas?
Yes. Say what the formula should do, in your own words: it writes it and says how it works. In a workbook it makes, formulas stay formulas, which Excel works out again.
Does it change my file?
No. A file you drop stays as it was: what Jean makes comes back as a new workbook, which you can change where it shows.
How big can the spreadsheet be?
Up to 100 MB. The AI reads a long sheet 200 rows at a time; the computer works on the whole file.
What about Google Sheets or Numbers?
Download the sheet as .xlsx or CSV, and drop that file in the box.
Does it work on a phone?
In the browser, yes. The AI on this computer needs a computer; on a phone, choose one online.
